Final Post

Well what just happened? A week of adventure, culture and much fun - that's what!!

But how come it went to quick?

It only seems like yesterday that we arrived, went on a walking tour followed by a few hours in a few in pool, next day we were wild water rafting in the rain, then playing on inflatables in a lake in temperatures of over 30 degrees.

I'm sure you child will eventually remember everything and tell you for themselves what they did.

From my point of view EVERYONE got something out of it, faced a fear, learnt something, tried a new activity, pushed themselves and each other, depended friendships, but most importantly came home with memories to treasurer.

Take a look at the photo montage from the week by clicking on this link https://youtu.be/HvloaNjPVEU and don't forget to leave comments in the blog for all to see.

Arrival time

If no more hold ups we should be back at the co-op at 00:30. Please do not park along the road where service bus stops as we will be pulling up there. If no where for the coach to stop we will have to find an alternative location in the village.

Follow where we are in real time hear...

We appreciate everyone will be wanting to see their child and hear about the week of adventure, but please let us get the bags off the coach rather than trying to just 'grab and go'. Makes it easier for everyone and no one gets in the way while trying to get the bags off.

See you soon 😀

The journey home

We are at Heathrow and going through passport control, border checks and then baggage reclaim.  Will update on an exact ETA once we get the A120. So pick ups can stay in your houses until the update 😀

On board

We have now boarded the aircraft and now waiting for departure. It maybe back on schedule within a few  minutes. Next update will be when we arrive at Heathrow.

Through security

All through security and shortly heading to the gate. Scheduled departure is 20:31 so arrival in UK is now expected at 22:01. Could all change, so will update when we can and as we leave Heathrow on the coach.

Off to the airport

Everyone is back in uniform, bags loaded into trailer and now heading to the airport. Keep an eye on the blog and Twitter @silverendscouts for updates on the journey back to the UK

Shopping

After climbing it was off into the city for some shopping.  The Scouts went off in groups with a couple of adults to spend any money they had left.

We are busy doing the final check for fluids in hand luggage and putting the souvenirs in the hold bags before then getting the minibuses back to the airport.

Climbing

The last activity of the week is climbing at Avatar.  Once finished here it's out to lunch then some free time to shop.

Last day

A nice thunder storm to clear the air this morning, so a little fresher now.  We are waiting for the tram to go to the climbing centre for an hour of going up and down the ropes.

Final night

The final evening is now in the past. It started with a meal of Pierogi in a milk bar, followed with a tram party back to Krakow. Lots of the Scouts were dancing along to classic disco polo songs.  It will certainly be something they will never forget.

A few photos from the day and the audio blog of are also online now.

Nuclear bunker

Inside the nuclear bunker in Nowa Huta. Getting to try on gas masks...

Communist Tour

We are now out on the communist tour learning about life under the regien and having fun in the trabbies and 'cucumber'.

Back above ground

After two hours in the depth of the Salt Mines, it's back to the surface, daylight and very hot weather.  It was a nice cool 12 degrees below ground but now 29 degrees above.

We are heading back to the hostel in Krakow now for lunch, start packing and tidying rooms then out with the 'crazy guides' for the communist tour.

Final full day

It's the final fall day 😢, but what a day it is going to be!

An early start as we are already on the coach heading to the Salt Mines.  First group will be in at 8.45am, with the others following in 15 minutes intervals.

Quite glad we are heading underground as already 22 degrees here and not yet even 8am!!

End of the day

The Scouts had an enjoyable hour of bowling at Plac Nowy 1.  It was then back to the hostel and off to their rooms for an early night as need to be up around 6.30am for the final full day.

It's going to be a hot and humid evening as still 24 degrees here at 10.30pm and 75% humidity!

The audio blog is now online and a few more photos and videos from the day.

Last activity of the day

The last activity for Thursday is an hour of bowling. They should be pretty tired out today after all we have done.  Well, we hope they are as pick up for the salt mines is at 7.45am tomorrow!

Dinner

Tonight we ate at Portofino in the Jewish Square of Krakow.  A nice local restaurant both to the hostel and bowling where the next destination is.

Back to Krakow

A great day at Energylandia. Heading back to Krakow now for a meal out then bowling for an hour.  It didn't hit the 40 degrees, but got upto 33! 😎☀️🌞

Energylandia

We have a arrived and lots of excited Scouts.  The park is MASSIVE!! They are now off in their groups with a couple of adults to have a day of fun.

Thursday already!

Can't believe it's Thursday already.  Where has the week gone?

After yesterday's cultural and more relaxing day, today is adrenaline filled.  We are off to Zator to enjoy the thrills on the ride at Energylandia.

It's predicted to be the hottest day in Poland so far this year (could hit 40 degrees), so lots of suncream has been applied and everyone has plenty of water with them.
